The biennial International Manufacturing and Technology Show has become the latest victim of COVID-19. The event, scheduled for Sept. 14-19, has been canceled.
The AMT Board of Directors and staff had been working with Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot on the exact requirements to hold trade show in the city. However, trade shows were contingent on either a vaccine for COVID-19 or a highly effective treatment, neither of which is expected in the coming months.
¡°In light of these difficult and challenging circumstances, IMTS - The International Manufacturing Technology Show, scheduled for September 14-19, 2020 had to be cancelled. While this saddens us, the health and safety of our exhibitors and audience remains our top priority,¡± a release from AMT said.
The show organizers are still hoping to provide IMTS exhibitors and visitors with connections, networking opportunities and technical knowledge. To that end, organizers will offer the IMTS Network, a live stream of a variety of features and stories from the Manufacturing Technology sector; and IMTS Spark, a comprehensive digital platform that connects IMTS exhibitors and visitors, provides educational and networking opportunities. That will launch in the near future.
